The Named Blades

Every great Dar carries a historic blade — a weapon passed down through champions, each with its own steel, its own dead, and its own name.

Protector

Bearer: Ħamy Samasar, Emir of Selaħdar & commander of the Gundartag · Dar: Samasar of Shama and the Leften Coast

Forged of Nazolean steel — the indestructible reddish-black metal born when Mount Fury's liquid fire cools — Protector is Ħamy's constant companion, strapped to his back through storm and court alike. Its steel was forged in fires long dead, which no living man could rekindle again. Dar Samasar's motto, fittingly, is "The Hour is Nigh."

Nasser

Bearer: Nomair, of Dar Mansour

A long sword forged from the fabled dark grey steel of old Bleshtea — a kingdom that no longer bears its name, its forgers silenced, its secrets nearly lost. Grey-hued and elusive, its blade ripples like murky water disturbed by a breath, bearing no gleam, no boastful shine — only the deep, hungry colour of ashen dust, folded layer upon layer until it took on the pattern of waves in dark grey and silver. It sings when drawn.

Nasser has passed through the hands of Dar Mansour's champions since the ancestor Salman Al Mansour — worn smooth by three men before Nomair: Salman, Zidan, and Irfan. Each groove in its grip is a silent testament.

Venom

Bearer: Amar, Tag of Mehirea · Dar: Fa₭ier

A black cobra blade of Bleshtean steel, curved and veined with watered shadows, its gilded edge and serpent-headed hilt gleaming beneath torchlight. Venom is Dar Fa₭ier's historic weapon — and the blade Amar draws in the arena at Chapter Thirteen's turning point, "The Cobra's Strike."

Claw

Bearer: RaƐd, Wassy of the Woodlands · Dar: Barathen

The historic blade of Dar Barathen, hung — by RaƐd's own admission — on the wall in Lionsden more often than drawn, since he prefers his hammer in practice. Dar Barathen's motto: "Merciless Clutches."

Bane

Bearer: Nader, Wassy of the Rugged Mounts · Dar: Sattar

Carried by the Wolf of the Rugged Mounts, who wishes, if he must fall, to do it "in winter, my sword Bane in hand, with none around to see it but the mountain." Dar Sattar's motto: "Prepare for what is to come."

Other Historic Blades of the Descent

Beyond the five most storied blades, every Dar of the Descent carries its own: the Frond (Dar Kahlan of the Oasis, "Deeper Roots"), Shimmer (Dar Lam↋an of the Mines and Hills, "Shine the Brightest"), Dominator/Faiħal (Dar Ħisnhan of the Hush Valley, "Truth Found in Pain"), and Skinner (Dar Butaħ of the Tar Mounts, "Keen Edges") — each tied to its Dar's profession, emblem, and colours. See the Great Dars page for the complete list.
