Once the old way of settling any dispute, land, honour, everything, through single combat. Mehir the Unifier banned it; today it survives only as sport, in tournaments like the Warriors of the Sands.
The Warriors of the Sands tournament (see Chapter 6) brings fighters from across and beyond the Crowndom: the Anbat Tenters, the Barza₭ins, the Nada Wanderers, the Cavers of Bany Basir, and the Ashenwolves, see Peoples for each culture's fighting style.
Ramela's war dance and battle-cry, boots stamping and shields slamming in unison until the chant breaks like thunder: "Naha! Nahya! Namoot! Namoot! Merrimal! Larrimal!" Performed by the Qilat's guards as an entrance meant to unsettle before a word is spoken, and carried into battle by the Mansourean ranks at Dahabrad. It also survives as blessing, the same chant turned joyous at weddings and courtyard gatherings.
